Beauty on the Mount of Beatitudes

A year ago I had the honor of going to Israel.  I had been saved for less than a year, but I had the opportunity to walk where Jesus walked in the Holy Land.

Once place we went to was the Mount of Beatitudes.  I’ve never been in a place so peaceful.  It was in this place that He gave the Sermon on the Mount.  One of my favorite scriptures is from Matthew 5:3-12:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

One of the things I love about Jesus is that He defied expectations.  Religious leaders were offended by the kind of people Jesus associated with.  The people with the most problems have the greatest opportunity to experience the love of Jesus.  Those who are forgiven much love much.

The weakest people have the most room for God to show up and be strong.  It’s when we surrender that we make room for God to show up and do the impossible.  His grace is sufficient.  A little boy offered Jesus his lunch, and He was able to feed thousands.

God doesn’t expect us to be great, but if we surrender, He can be great in us.
