Trials produce the greatest opportunities to grow in faith. Today, submitting to God meant doing something I thought was scary. The winds were howling and I felt ill-equipped for the task at hand. But I’d received confirmation from leaders that it was the right next step.
I’ve been afraid for days, dealing with the consequences of a deep soul searching. I was fighting the memories of past outcomes in similar situations. I’ve done this before, and bad things happened. How do I know it’s not going to happen again?
This time though, I was walking through the valley with a shepherd. I didn’t have Jesus before. I had done everything alone. This time though, I had God with me.
Before the challenge, I started encouraging myself in the Lord. I put on some worship music. I started praying in the Spirit. I knew if God wasn’t with me, I didn’t want to go.
As I was praying, scriptures started coming to me.
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
If God is for us, who can be against us?
I found myself growing in boldness as I prayed. I found myself shouting. I have a mighty God. I have a mighty God! I have a mighty God!
And the outcome is in His hands!
We may not know where God is leading us, or what the mystery or future holds, but we know His character and that He is on our side!
And with each trial, we are a little bit closer to who He created us to be!
